7 Things That Will Get You Arrested On Thanksgiving
Most people see Thanksgiving as a day where we appreciate all the people in our lives and gather together to celebrate the family and community. While you were cutting turkey and breaking bread, the following people were charged with various crimes- some are pretty crazy! Here are 7 things that will get you arrested on Thanksgiving:
1.) Fighting
There’s nothing like saying grace and then having a brawl after, right? For four individuals from Illinois, this was the case. The Madison County State Attorney’s Office filed felony mob action, felony criminal trespass to a residence, and felony criminal damage to government supported property charges variously among the perpetrators.
2.) DWI
The days surrounding Thanksgiving are prime-time for police officers to crack down on drunk driving. The police of the relatively small town of Greenwich, CT made 114 motor vehicle stops during the Thanksgiving break. 3 people faced DWI charges, including one person who almost hit a patrol car head on, in the middle of the night.
3.) Sexual Assault
A resident of Salem, CT was charged with multiple crimes in relation to domestic violence on Thanksgiving Day. She was charged on multiple accounts including cruelty to persons, second-degree assault, first-degree sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and risk of injury.
4.) Murder
Murder is an especially gruesome act to commit on Thanksgiving. A 21-year old was gunned-down early morning while walking from a convenience store after a robbery gone wrong. The two men involved were charged with murder, robbery, and related offenses.
5.) Drug Possession
4 men were charged with various accounts of drug possession on Thanksgiving Day in Kentucky. Everything ranging from first-degree controlled-substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession to first-degree methamphetamine possession was seen.
6.) Burglary
A family in Northern New Jersey came home late on Thanksgiving to find their house “completely ransacked.” Thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment, electronics, jewelry and personal documents had been stolen from them. The crime was solved within 6 hours because the two perpetrators went to Target to use the credit card, which is where they were captured by police. All of the stolen items were also recovered. The two were charged with burglary, theft, and fraudlent use of a credit card among other charges.
7.) Jumping The White House Fence
While most people jump into the mashed potatoes and stuffing, a man jumped the White House fence. This happened in the afternoon on Thanksgiving and triggered a complete lockdown of the presidential mansion. He scaled the north fence line and was immediately captured by the Secret Service. The White House was on lockdown as the Secret Service closed off nearby streets and conducted a security sweep.
